Last post of 2009 :)

I havent thought of a cool rhyme for 2010, but I better get on it because 2010 will be over before I know it. 2009 went by so fast and it's hard to believe it even happened. In 2009 I was able to sit back and observe my surroundings, and I feel I learned so much from doing that. I learned I have so much potential if I push myself and I need to continue to encourage those around me. In 2010 Im focused on staying positive and finding my muse. For me, 2010 isnt about change, its about progression. Not only is it a new year, its a new decade. Leave all animosity or bad experiences in the past because focusing on the past will hinder your progress. Happy New Year everyone. Make this year personal, before you can try to help others you must have your self in order.

Subway's unnecessary dairy overlap

via buzzfeed

This was an ingenious observation. I usually get the tuna sub and Subway is quite stingy with the amount of tuna they put on a foot long.

"When you are doing what you love you no longer care to speak something negative upon someone else, positivity becomes effortless."- levi maestro

I admit I have been a hater in many situations, but I find my hating comes from the fact that I'm unhappy with my own situation. Misery loves company, and often times miserable people rather speak negativity unto others rather than try to better their own situation. When you are no longer in a bad place in your life, the feeling is great, and you will soon try to build up the people around you. Complaining or hating won't get you anywhere, if anything it makes people dislike you even more. Focusing on the bad never brings any good. I'll try to go into the New Year, leaving negativity behind, hopefully this attitude will be contagious.

Too much to Jam

This is what happened to a Foot Locker when someone broke in for the Jordan Retro 11, which I mentioned in my last post.

Like I said before, the Space Jam is a highly anticipated Jordan release and if you have the means to purchase them, feel free because they are a nice looking and quality shoe. But I'm sure many people standing in those long lines this morning shouldn't have been in line. If your family is struggling in anyway, your grades aren't right, or you didn't donate to some cause for the holidays, you didn't belong in line. Just because you have the money, doesn't mean you can afford them. The celebrities or grown men and women who have their priorities in order can afford $175 for a shoe. What happened to the days when parents rolled their eyes when their kids asked for these expensive gym shoes (cause really thats all they are)? I remember when my brother was in high school getting Jordans were a reward and people wore them until the Jump-man on the sole was covered by dirt and green stains from the grass. Now thats how you spend $175. I guess because I'm not a sneaker person, I dont understand why the shoe has caused this much melee seeing that every few months, Nike releases something deemed bigger and better to replace the latter release. I thought Jordans were released on Saturdays?

Another topic on Twitter that caused me to write this is the (for lack of a better word) haters. Michael Jordan is a legendary basketball player. So what if his fans want to purchase his product? What about the people who waited in line for hours to buy the iPhone when it was first released? Are those people idiots too? Even if the non sneaker heads don't understand the hype surrounding this particular Jordan release, doesnt mean the diehard shoe fans waiting in lines are blithering idiots. Everyone has a particular thing that they find peace in and for many people, shoes are it. If the shoe was on the other foot (pun intended), and you were in line for something you wanted, would it still be stupid?

Hello its the martian, Space Jam Jordans

No words can describe my admiration of this shoe and I'm not even a sneaker kind of girl. The shoe was debuted in November by Marcus Jordan, Mike's son, at one of his college basketball games. The Space Jam or Jordan Retro 11 is probably the most anticipated Jordan release of this year, but I'm not mad at all the sneaker heads who've been anxiously waiting because this is actually a very good looking shoe. If you arent able stand in line or borrow your parents credit card to purchase the $175 Space Jams, fear not, the bootleg man always has your back ;)

Flip Video Cam
I'd be a video recording maniac if I had one of these. I wish I would have put this on my Christmas list, but I've only paid attention to it within the last few weeks.

Chicago Hates You

Via Leaders1354:

Chicago.Hates.You.
Hate. Hater. Haterville. Chicago. For many moons and many seasons, the street culture of Chicago has been shrouded in “hatred” and lack of support for our own. The examples are endless – a litany of Chicago artists, musicians, actors, brands and retailers – many are unsupported, most take their talent elsewhere. The proverbial “you do you” and “I do me” has resulted in a systematic inability (perhaps refusal) to do “us” … together. The net result is that, despite the cornucopia of talent and creativity native to the Chi, most of us will find ourselves unable to get that deal, concert venue, industry plug, retail space or manufacturer. In short, it’s a damn shame.
Never fear though…the beacons of fashion, retail and music, namely Eschmitte’ Brand, Leaders1354, Enstrumental and Fake Shore Shore Drive, have collaborated to give you the “Chicago Hates You” tee. The offering undoubtedly captures the frustration of being immersed in and battling through the culture of “Haterville.” But the tee doesn’t stop there. Inherent in its message, the CHY tee begs the question: If Chicago hates you and effectively hates US, then what? What are we then left with?
Perhaps it’s about time we focus our energy on something more constructive.
Chicago Hates You.
Time to change Chicago.

If you're from Chicago and you know anyone who is trying to follow their dreams, you probably wholeheartedly agree with that. I have a few friends who've had to move away from Chicago because they weren't getting support or find the catalyst to jump start their career. I could really go for one of those "Chicago Hates You." tees as well. I'm not sure the status on them, but check out Leaders1354.com for more info.

I triple dog dare you to watch these :)

Christmas seems like it came too quickly this year. I've barely had the time to watch any good Christmas movies. I will start my Christmas movie marathon today tho ;) My faves in no particular order are:

1. A Christmas Story- they usually do a marathon of this on Christmas Eve. I like to call this "an oldie but goodie"

2. Elf- I can watch this movie any time during the year and its still hilarious
3. Home Alone- i dont know if this is considered a Christmas movie, but its Christmas themed and i love it.
4. A Charlie Brown Christmas- Its not a movie, but if you havent watched this, I feel bad for you because its such a classic.
5. This Christmas- yes, the one with Chris Brown. I love the family element in the movie, it kinda makes me wish I had a big immeadiate family to spend time with during the holidays.
6. Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights- its a Hanukkah movie with Christmas references, and if you've seen any of Adam Sandler's movies you'd watch this just because

F.I.N.A.L.S.

I should be frantic and studying for finals this week, but I'm not nor will I. Im just not that kind of student. Taking finals works much better if you relax, although I think I'm being way too relaxed. Good luck to everyone taking finals over the next few weeks.

Vanessa Angela & Honey Mag

The girls speak on Angela being a virgin, their relationships, their success with the Pastry company, and their personal preferences on style. I love them, I truly think they are good examples for young girls. Although they had their father their to back them up, they also turned Pastry into a million dollar company by themselves. Angela is only 22 and Vanessa is 26, if they can do it so young, I'm sure there are many other girls who can do the same. Kudos girls.

Maestro Knows

I've been wanting to make a post about this dude since forever but I kept putting it off. His name is Levi Maestro and I have a huge crush on him. He is a young director and producer who lives in Los Angeles, but has an international state of mind. I found out about him over the summer and I've been glued to every episode of his online show called Maestro Knows ever since. The show takes viewers through his almost day to day life, which may include being at In and Out Burger in LA, at Bread and Butter in Germany, or simply skateboarding. The reason his show appeals to me so much is because he is so regular, but inspiring and extremely motivated, and he made his way to where he is now by being himself and working hard. The show makes me want travel and experience different places and the wonderful people I can possibly meet on the way. On the video below he collaborated with 13th Witness for an episode of the NYC Edition of the show, the way the episode is filmed and edited is not Maestro's usual style for the show, but I love the technique used for it anyway. Enjoy and he does more stuff here
