Gone too Soon

This weekend an alumni of my school passed away. I didn't know the young man, but when I found out who he was I immediately looked him up on Facebook to find out if his face looked familiar, it didn't. I began to look at the hundreds of comments on his wall and realized how much of an impact he made on so many people over the 19 years he was on this Earth. There were so many comments from people who had only met him once, but never forget his kindness or smile or inviting personality. When I saw the video of his mom talking about him on the news, I wanted to cry. He was such a good person both inside and out, and he was loved by so many people. Not only was he kind, but he was a talented athlete and intelligent man both in school and out. Without meeting him, I could already tell he was a genuine, loving, and caring person.
His story made me realize that life is short. A person can be here one minute and gone the next, so we MUST live our lives without regret and cherish the ones who are close to us. We must also be thankful for each day, and try to live out our purpose for being here. My sincerest condolences go out to everyone mourning Kevin Edwards' passing. I can't imagine how his loved ones feel. His hunger for success and passion for others is truly inspiring.

RIP Kevin Edwards, I didn't know you but your life has inspired me to be better.

"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."

LOL :)

Now this is a video I LOVE. Trey asked his fans to submit things to be apart of this video and here is the end result. Kudos to Trey for doing this, it lets people know that some celebrities actually read and look at the stuff you send them via Twitter or Myspace and they really appreciate it. I can't imagine this video being done any other way.

Racial Profiling?

This past Saturday, my mom and two friends of mine went downtown to see the annual lighting of the Magnificent Mile. Although we couldn't see much of the parade I believe I was sent down there for another purpose.

After eating our dinner, we walked to the Apple Store. Anyone who has been to the Apple Store knows the set up and how they have many displays for the customers to try out. While looking at the headphones, I noticed three black boys no older than 11 years old. The boys were playing with the iTouches and were very very well mannered. From looking at the boys, I could tell they probably didn't have much money, but they weren't causing any trouble. I'm usually not the one to bring race into things but I will for the next part of this story. After about 10 minutes or so of the boys playing with the iTouches, a security guard who looked to be of Arabian decent started questioning the boys about why and who they were in the store with. Mind you, these boys probably weren't even old enough to do long division. One of the boys said they were in there with their sister and she was downstairs. I reiterated to the man what the boy said, but he told me they were probably lying. After this, one of my friends asked me to help her pick out an iPod case, all of which were in the area by these boys. By the time she was ready to check out there was another security guard and a sales associate monitoring these young boys. Finally their sister did come to pick them up, but before she came I was 10 seconds away from telling the men the boys were with me.

I understand the man had to do his job and make sure the under aged boys weren't causing trouble. But after he did this, I felt he should have left them alone. There were enough people in the store that if the boys were gonna do something, someone would have seen it. It broke my heart to see the young boys being profiled at such young ages, they probably didn't even know what was happening to them. It has become a trend in our society that minorities are the ones followed in stores or pulled over by police, but not every minority is a thief or a trouble maker. I'm aware that there have been so many people to put the idea in peoples minds that blacks may be the bad guy, but in this case, we weren't. Its a chance I may never see those boys again, but it probably won't be the last time I see something like this. And that's what scares me.

I know many people may disagree with me on this subject, some may say it wasn't profiling. But there were many other kids in the store, with no parents in sight who weren't being watched. I wouldn't necessarily call this instance profiling either though. I just believe it was very suspicious and unfair that the security guard singled these boys out, when there were so many other people in the store. This is my first time ever dealing with something like this, so you can say I am very ignorant to things like this.

Drake was honored as one of GQ's Men of the Year and attended the party with Nicki Minaj. They actually look kind of good together. *presses Facebook like button*

Dia and I aren't fans of Nicki, but I have to admit she does look pretty when she's not dressed up in leggings and bra sets.

That look is not okay, Nicki.

Naked pics, no Playboy

Yet again another celebrity has become a victim of the naked picture scandal. Aaron Reid, the son a record label executive L.A. Reid, being the most recent. I will not post the pictures, but they are all over the internet. A girl met Aaron, didn't like his performance or attitude, took a picture and leaked it. Its as simple as that, yet people continue to make themselves vulnerable. It has a lot to do with the people you associate with and the people you trust. Granted he was sleeping when the young woman took the picture, he still should have been more responsible in the choice of company he entertained. Now he has to live with the fact people have seen his "thangs" and his parents are most likely disappointed and embarrassed by their son's irresponsible actions. I also heard his mom just became some kind of minister...

This isn't just for celebrities, I know a few people who've had they're naked or half naked pictures blasted because they trusted the person who they sent the photo to. Honestly, I don't want anyone's naked pictures in my possession because I will be tempted to blast you on a public forum, but I probably wouldn't do that. Also, after a while all that kind of stuff gets old and its time to grow up. If some one asks you for some naked or half naked pictures, is that really the kind of person you should associate with? I've learned to watch what I say and do because people are watching and you never know what can get out. At the end of the day you are responsible for your own actions and everything you do is a reflection of you.

LMAO!

I was on Miss Jia's blog and I found this. I died, this is a shame but it's too funny. The ending was priceless.

Beyonce feat Lady GaGa

They've been playing the original version on the radio for months and I thought it was gonna be totally different. I find Lady GaGa very unattractive in this, and I swore Beyonce was Rihanna at the beginning. The video is very reminiscent of Beyonce's Green Light video and focuses a lot on fashion, but they did a good job with the visuals.

Verdict: The visuals (makeup, wardrobe, lights, choreography) are excellent, song is okay, Beyonce looked good and Lady GaGa just made her look better.

-she was sexy. [:
-even a lesbian would want to fuck him after this video.
-if drake was in this it would have threw the whole thing off.
-i love that part where he grabbed her ass :D
-wasn't really feeling the way he took off her dress. if i was her, i woulda been like uhhh, hold up daddy, don't rip my gotdamn dress unless you plan on buying me a new one.
-i also love the way he was holding her face & kissing her neck.
-was i the only person who noticed her about to perform felatio on him?
-lip biting, amazing.
-his tongue, omfg. it just makes me want to throw my pannies at him.
-the ice. come on now, thats just, come on...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate..."

Honestly, I'm not all that into poetry. I do love music and I guess thats a form of poetry, but as far as spoken word and poetry slam type stuff, I'll pass. But, every once in a while a poem catches my ear and when it does it actually makes me think and reflect on it. Love's Deceit by Big Rube was at the end of the movie ATL and I loooovee it. It's actually a very deep poem and is very well written and meaningful. My other favorite is Our Greatest Fear (this is more of a quote). It was in the movie Coach Carter and was used in Nelson Mandela's 1994 inauguration speech. The poem was originally written by Marianne Williamson.

Our Greatest Fear

Love's Deceit

i wasn't at first, but why not? good ol' chris brown. . .

yeah, i really wasn't going to waste my time & touch on the whole chris brown fiasco, but what the hell. . . why not? everyone else has had their opinions [internet] publicly, why not boast mine. my thoughts about the woman beater, i mean chris brown haven't really gone any further than the vicinity of my friends ears, so uhhh, yeah, here ya go.
the artist formerly known as chris brown is pretty much dead in my book. i honestly believe that this nigga could have killed a muthafucka & still be on my ipod. but this dumb negro beat rihanna. cmon now, thats just stupid. first of all, causing physical harm to a woman period, lowest thing a man can do. then on top of that, one of the baddest in the game, rihanna, dumb fuck.
- how to fatally ruin your career in ten minutes by chris brown #thickestfuckingbookever [my twiggas, you know what this means].
oh, & i also believe that if it was a non-celebrity he probably wouldn't have got it AS BAD, but it was rihanna.
now he's tryna rebuild his career & shit, ok, you do that boo.
i don't hate chris brown, he is just in never ending redemption, to me.
he lost sooo many fans over this, & the truth is, he won't get the majority of them back.
some are going to forget chris brown & some will forgive, but its in the past, & the only thing he can do is move on. pray. & get a new stylist cus that bowtie, them mortal kombat boots, & the interview with his tag-along mother did the MOST.
oh, & i hate the transform ya song & video. except the fact that wayne was in it, <3.
point _______ period.

didn't know she had it in her. . .

now, i have always been pretty fond of Christina Aguilera. just about as fond as the average person, who has probably only heard Christina's hit songs. but the other day, i was randomly listening to that little Pandora radio thing on my iphone[don't you hate when people always have to specify that they have an iphone? -_-] & i came across this song by christina & fell in love with it. so, say heller to my new favorite song of all time...

TAKERS, fuck yeah [:

okay, so i love the previews they show before movies. i'm in the show today, with my impatient ass, waiting on Precious to come on, & the preview for this badass(adj.)movie comes on. OMFG, i'm going to see this shit the day it comes out, & i know you will too after watching this preview. [:

*edit. Heres the bootleg movie poster. (sorry to intrude on your post Dia)

My name is Clareece "Precious" Jones . . .

So, lets get started. Everybody was trippin' & going crazy about going to see Precious [including me], & oddly, i was SLIGHTLY disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was a good movie, i just think that i didn't like it as much because i read the book prior to me seeing the movie. THE BOOK WAS SO MUCH BETTER. the movie always leaves out so much stuff, & that really grinds my gears. Overall, good movie, but i wish i wouldn't have read the book first. & another thing, all the talk shows & all the people were constantly going on about how amazing Gabby Sidibe's(Precious) acting was, but chile, Mo'Nique performance was ineffable. baby bye. i guess, because that was Gabby's first movie, but still, Mo'Nique... ooooooweeeee. [:
the movie was hilarious, moving, REAL, & something that you pray to God isn't based on a true story. so uhhh, yeah, go see it.
oh, & i fucking LOVED the Jamaican girl's accent. omg, i wish she would have talked more, lol.
& i loved that lesbian stud, Jermaine, she was so thuggish. lmao.

Even though you know you shouldn't, you will be ROTFL at Mo'Nique cussin' Precious out in the movie. But in the back of your mind, you just gon be sayin' "gotdamn". Like really, she was cussin' her out fareal. & the worst part is, she sounds like my mama when she cusses me out. [minus all the bitch callin of course. i wish my mama would call me a bitch. -- even though she did yesterday... but those were totally different circumstances]. anyhooter... her mama called her a fat bitch so many times i sat that & thought to myself "am i a fat bitch too?" like damn.
but here's some funny things to look out for [:
-mary(precious' mom) says that the house was smaller cus precious was in it. LMFAO!
-this random ass negro with this gold tooth kept coming out of no where.
-mariah carey's mustache "/
-that 170 year old man in the choir.
-& the rape scene. i shouldn't have laughed, but i did for a spilt second on the inside. & you'll know the part i laughed at when you see it.

hope that you guys go see this movie, even though i am kind of indiffernt about it, it still was an amazing movie. you won't regret it.

Bye Bye Byron

Byron Scott was fired as the head coach of the New Orleans Hornets, and Jeff Bower will take his place. Ironically, Scott was named coach of the year in 2008. This news comes after the Hornets lost 126-104 to Phoenix, giving them a 3-6 start to their season. Chris Paul's frustrations with the team have become eminent during games and it's almost as he expects his team to lose. So far this season the Hornets have been noticed for the bad habits the guys have developed on the court and their sloppy execution of plays. Hopefully this change will be good news for the Hornets and they'll be able to get the winning season they expected.

Is he serious....?

Before

After

Yup, he's the cork bat guy, Sammy Sosa. He played in Chicago for the Sox and Cubs (more famous for his Cubs stint). According to Sammy's close friend he isn't trying to be Michael Jackson, he's just "rejuvinating his skin." Good luck with that?

His wife's boobs arent even, but hopefully thats just the way she's standing =/

Thanks, but no thanks

So Dia is really into poetry and our friend Jasmine saw a flyer for a poetry show and gave it to her. She didn't really read the flyer she just saw that it had something to do with poetry and picked it up. Good gesture right? Heres the flyer.

LMAO! The chick is nekkid on the front, but the second picture is the important one. They got quite creative with the wording. By the way, she picked this up in a beauty salon. Oh, the things you find while getting your hurr did....

I ♥ my friends

I think I have the best friends in the world, the craziest part is that I don't always feel like it. I've always been the oddball of my friends, which can make me feel left out many times. My true friends always manage to pull me back in though. I cant really say I have a BEST friend because its too many people in my life who are important to me. My life isnt complete when I'm not surrounded by the people who truly love and care about me and I thank you all for that. I'm done with dealing with iniquitous people and people who are only friends with me when its convenient, because I've realized associating with them will get me nowhere. I'm not a big fan of doing shout outs because my people know who they are. Love you guys :)

You wish you could

cause I wish I could. The video explains itself.

20/20..... kinda

on Friday I watched Rihanna's interview on 20/20 and it wasnt what I expected. Well honestly, I don't even know what I expected from it. Some of her answers seemed planned and other were believable. I find it very hard to believe she had never seen his apology video but responded with such a typical answer. Overall I respect her for being able to talk about the situation so calmly and not revealing too many details. She basically told people what they wanted to hear and answered questions Chris wouldn't. I think Chris needs to stop doing interviews as well. The incident is over and discussion about it needs to be over as well. I'm done talking about it.

Rihanna's makeup was on point, but her hair was a HAM, she should always have some kind of bangs.

Speechless

The resemblance is uncanny.

Words of Dia-"She gets an C for effort and an F for life. Don't care if its Halloween, shalloween, or whatever. This is unacceptable! You know what, I take it back. She gets an A+ for effort. Aside from her ugly bra & lack of a chest, she did a great job of trying to look like Nicki."
